All We Can appoints new Chair of its Board of Trustees

  

This month All We Can announced the appointment of Louise Brooke-Smith as its new Chair of Trustees.

Maurice Adams, All We Can’s Chief Executive, said of the new appointment, “All We Can strives to be effective, efficient and accountable; both in how it works with its valued supporters as well through its partnerships that seek to end the cycle of suffering caused by poverty, inequality and injustice. Our Board plays a key role in the responsibility for the strategic direction of All We Can and has a duty to drive forward good governance and attract further support. We welcome the addition of Louise Brooke-Smith to our Board as our new Chair of Trustees. We know that her global experience and expertise in strategic management will strengthen our ability to invest in local people that enable solutions to poverty.”

Louise is a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor and a Chartered Town Planner with considerable experience drawn from the public and private sectors within the UK and overseas over the past 30 years. As CEO of a national planning consultancy, her practice provides development and planning advice to commercial, industrial and residential sectors. It also advises various academic institutions, local authorities and charitable bodies together with a range of UK Government bodies on matters relating to land, property and construction.

Louise is an experienced Non-Executive Chair and Director. Among many other roles, she is currently an advisor to the Cabinet Office and has recently worked with the Foreign Office in Central Asia, addressing land use and planning policy. Her overseas experience includes hands-on, grassroots activity with various aid agencies and the UN across Africa and Asia, and more recently on issues relating to planning protocol for disaster management and building resilience. She brings a wealth of experience to the Board and has a proven commitment to humanitarian causes.  

Louise has joined All We Can as its new Chair of Trustees with a desire to learn from the organisation’s activities in recent times, to share her experience and to work closely with All We Can’s staff, led by its passionate and experienced Executive Team. Her goal is to support the organisation and reinforce successful existing partnerships which help to alleviate poverty and address inequality in all their manifestations. On taking the new role, Louise commented, “As All We Can continues to make a distinctive and important contribution to tackling poverty and injustice I want its Board to play a strategic role in attracting donors, driving forward growth, innovation and service by supporting effective new partnerships which will fulfil All We Can’s goals and inspire positive change in key locations around the world”.
