James Kalikwembe

Country Representative - Malawi


James Kalikwembe joined All We Can in December 2018 as part-time local coordinator for Malawi. James is an experienced social and leadership development professional and trainer with considerable experience in Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CCAM) programming work, and Leadership and Organizational Development with 25 years of committed service. He worked as Southern Region Manager and National DRM & CCAM Programs Manager for the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) for 18 years leading a regional team of over 30 staff members in CBDRM and CCAM work, Church and Community Transformational Initiatives, and socioeconomic advocacy work. In 2004, James facilitated the development of Phalombe District Disaster Risk Management Plan (DRMP) which was the first ever to be developed at district level in Malawi. In his social work, James has also provided training consultancy on capacity building in disaster risk management/Climate Change and disaster risk management planning for development practitioners in Malawi and other countries.

James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies with a minor in Christian Education from African Bible College (Malawi) and a MSc in Leadership and Change Management from Leeds Beckett University (England). He is a certified trainer in Disaster Risk Management Planning (DRMP), Participatory Assessment of Disaster Risks (PADR), Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment in Disasters (REA) and Church Planting with TorqAid Australia, Tearfund UK, InterWorks LLC USA, Dynamic Church Planting International (DCPI) USA, respectively.

James also serves as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Assemblies of God Care (AG Care) a development agency of the Malawi Assemblies of God Church. He is a volunteer member of the Southern Africa Technical Team for TorqAid Australia and a missionary church planting trainer with Dynamic Church Planting International in central Africa region covering Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe. He is married to Agatha, and they have 4 adult children and live in Blantyre, Malawi.
