EMERGENCY APPEAL ⚠️
Hurricane Melissa appeal
Hurricane Melissa appeal
All We Can is responding to Hurricane Melissa in partnership with the Methodist Church in Britain.
We are working closely with our regional partner, the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA), to ensure that funds raised are directed to where they are most needed. MCCA is working on co-ordinating emergency relief efforts across affected communities in the region.
One of our partners, MCCA, intend to purchase bulk goods such as food and shelter materials to help those most acutely affected by the hurricane. Give today to help our partners undertake their life-saving work.
Bishop Juan says that the Jamaica District of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA) was well prepared for the disaster and, once safe, will establish what the immediate response to the hurricane needs to be and what long term recovery and reconstruction will be required. He commented, “The relief stage will be the challenge, as we evaluate what has happened and what investments will need to be made to restore infrastructure and help people get back on their feet.”
Bishop Juan continued, “The climate crisis is not coming, it’s here. Melissa is the harbinger of what we are to expect as the normal in terms of Caribbean storms systems. The Church is not an NGO or Government but it is the first-place people turn to, whether they are ascribed to the teachings of Jesus or not.”
