Bukedi Beekeepers Association (BuBA)

BuBA, based in eastern Uganda’s Bukedi region, was established in 2018 by bee farmers across six districts. Its vision is empowered bee farmers for sustainable rural livelihoods, promoting beekeeping through education, mentorship and collective marketing, with a focus on including deprived and disadvantaged groups including people with disabilities. BuBA works in an area facing poverty and environmental degradation, promoting apiculture as a way to protect wetlands and forests while providing income, alongside research into medicinal honey and other by-products.
