Emergency Appeals
General
Gift Aid
As with our long-term development work, we manage our appeals by funding partners at the forefront of the crisis. We work with partners to establish how to money will be spent, making sure that the funds will go towards response and recovery. We only work with partners who share our values, who are transparent, competent and best-placed to make a difference to the communities most affected by the emergency.
For details on which partners we work with for specific appeals, please visit our appeals pages.
If you make a donation on our website, you'll receive an automated thank you message to confirm that it was successfully received. You should also receive an email receipt confirming your donation.
If you make a donation by phone or by post, you'll receive a confirmation from our supporter care team once it has been processed.
While we can accept bank transfers, we’d kindly ask you to reach out to the team first so we can track the donation. We keep records of donations in case there is ever a problem or question about the donation – it means we can help answer any queries you may have.
If you need help with different ways to donate, please get in touch with the team who will be happy to help.
If you have made an error by donating the wrong amount, or have made an accidental duplicate donation, you can get in touch via our contact us form and we will help you with a refund.
Funding permitting, and having received and reviewed an initial proposal and signed a partnership agreement, we transfer funds to our humanitarian partners as soon as we are able to, so they can act quickly to respond to a crisis while an appeal is still gathering support. We then agree additional tranche payments taking appeal funding into account. Where feasible, we also strive to engage with and support national and local organisations who are responding too.
Because most donations arrive early and then slow down, we sometimes make a final transfer to our humanitarian partners before all gifts have been received.
If further donations come in after that final payment, we will pass these on to the partner(s) unless the remaining balance is too small to transfer efficiently (under £250). In those cases, the remainder will support our Emergency Relief Fund where we are able to restrict money to help humanitarian work very soon after we have launched an appeal (funding permitting).
Our Humanitarian Partnership Agreement (signed by All We Can and our partners) states that:
Upon completion of the activities, we will return any unused funds to [All We Can], including accrued interest, unless it has been agreed they can be used for a different purpose.
Where any unspent funds exist, All We Can’s first priority is to work with our partner to agree how that funding could be utilised, aligned with the purpose of the Emergency Appeal.
In exceptional circumstances, the funding is returned to All We Can. In this instance, the funding will either be disbursed to another partner implementing a response to this disaster, aligned with the Emergency Appeal, or be repurposed for the Emergency Relief Fund. The returned funds will not be utilised as general funds outside of a humanitarian context.
All We Can will not provide funding for:
Activities connected to political parties or agendas, including campaigning or lobbying
Activities linked to military organisations or operations
Events or expenses related to parties, substance misuse, or the purchase of alcohol.
