Typhoon Kalmaegi was a powerful tropical cyclone that formed over the Philippine Sea in late October 2025. It moved west across the Philippines, bringing heavy rain, flooding, and landslides that kill hundreds and displace thousands. The storm then crossed the South China Sea and hit Vietnam, damaging homes and cutting power to millions. Typhoon Kalmaegi has caused widespread destruction across Southeast Asia and results in significant loss of life and property.
Loving God,
Today we stand in prayer with all those experiencing the devastating effects of Typhoon Kalmaegi. We pray for:
Protection – that people will find refuge in the face of the storm
Shelter – that displaced people will have somewhere safe to go for recovery and care
Response – that those responding to the devastation will be effective in reaching those in greatest need
Support – that the physical and mental needs of those effected will be attended to rapidly
Recovery– that steps towards building back and with greater resilience will be taken
Climate justice – that nations will recognise the need to take the necessary steps to address climate change as they gather for COP30
In your Holy Name,
Amen.
