Simple, locally led interventions often have the greatest impact. Pigs are resilient animals, which not only provide a source of food, but their manure is also excellent for fertiliser – this could increase the amount of food a family can grow and ensure they have a nutritious diet. And their ability to reproduce quickly allows families to expand their herd, providing an opportunity for income generation.

£28 has the ability to provide vulnerable families with a pig, as well as training in how to rear and care for it.
